Lilly Center, ACRES Partner for Bock Nature Preserve Expedition

Join the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams and ACRES Land Trust for a memorable woodland expedition at Bock Nature Preserve on Saturday, July 27, from 9-10 a.m. Casey Jones, director of land management at ACRES, will guide visitors through both woodland and prairie ecosystems.

Bock Nature Preserve was acquired by ACRES in 2007. Since then, ACRES has opened a 1.3-mile trail and maintained the property. The preserve is home to a unique blend of trees, including beech, maple, tulip, sycamore, black cherry and blue ash. Several small ponds and a robust, flowering prairie complete the picturesque landscape.

Lilly Center expeditions, formerly called interpretive hikes, allow individuals and families to explore northern Indiana’s wide variety of ecosystems and learn how land use affects Kosciusko County’s lakes and streams. All expeditions are treated as interactive lessons. They are led by local environmental experts, including Dr. Nate Bosch, director of the Lilly Center, and Luke Hunt, a certified master naturalist.

Attendees are encouraged to visit the Lilly Center’s Facebook event to stay up-to-date. For more information, email lakes@grace.edu or call 574-372-5100, ext. 6452.
